Getting started
What is ScriptReady?

ScriptReady is a powerful and collaborative rehearsal app, built solely by an actor — for actors, singers, and creators. It works with theater and TV/film scripts. You upload your sides or write your own script, choose your character, and rehearse the scene with your own recording, an AI scene partner, a friend's recording, or a real reader on a video call. It also includes a teleprompter and a self-tape recorder.

Is ScriptReady free?

ScriptReady is free to download from the App Store and Google Play. Helping a friend is always free, and anyone who records lines for you or reads with you on a call only needs a free Collaborator account.

Which devices does it run on?

ScriptReady runs on iPhone, iPad, and Android phones and tablets. One account works on all of them.

Is it only for film and TV actors?

No. ScriptReady works with theater scripts as well as TV and film scripts, and singers can rehearse songs with a piano accompaniment or backing track.

Importing scripts
What kinds of files can I import?

You can import a PDF, a photo of your pages, or text you paste in. You can also choose a Word (.docx), RTF or plain-text file. ScriptReady sorts the script into characters, dialogue and stage directions.

My sides have a watermark. Will that work?

Yes. ScriptReady handles watermarked audition sides. When you print the script to PDF later, the copy comes out without watermarks or distracting markings.

What if a line comes out wrong?

Open the Edit tab and fix any line in two taps. You can correct the words, or change the type of line to a character name, dialogue, a stage direction or a lyric.

Rehearsing
How does it know when I've finished my line?

When voice recognition is on, ScriptReady follows along as you say your line and moves to your partner's line when you finish. You don't need to tap between lines.

Can I rehearse without voice recognition?

Yes. Smart Timings learns how long you take on each line and plays the scene back at your pace without voice recognition. Passive listening mode plays the scene on repeat so you can learn it by ear.

What memorization modes are there?

There are repetition, passive listening, first-letter memorization and countdown modes. You can also show or hide stage directions and tap any line to start the scene from there.

Can I rehearse songs?

Yes. Attach a piano accompaniment or backing track and rehearse songs and scenes in order. If you add a countdown, the music starts once recording begins, so you have time to get ready.

Voices
Can I use my own voice?

Yes. With My Voice, you record your own reading of a part, and it plays as that character when you rehearse.

What AI voices are available?

ScriptReady has a curated library of AI partner voices with different accents and tones. You choose a voice for each character in the scene.

Can different characters use different kinds of voices?

Yes. Each character has its own partner setting, so one part can play your own recording while another uses an AI voice or a friend's Script Share recording.

Is my voice or recordings used to train AI?

No. Your recordings are only used for rehearsing, and they are never used to create, train or clone AI voices. They're saved on your phone. A copy goes to our servers only if you turn on sync between your devices, or if you include your recordings in a script you send with Script Share so your friend can hear your lines. The same goes for speech recognition. While you rehearse, the microphone is only used to follow along with your lines, and ScriptReady never saves that audio or uses it to train AI. Speech recognition is handled by your phone's built-in speech service from Apple or Google.

Where do the AI voices come from?

They are licensed voices from a professional voice provider. None of them is based on the voice of anyone who uses ScriptReady.

Script Share
How does Script Share work?

You send one or more characters to a friend. They open the script on their own phone, record their lines one at a time, and send them back. Their recordings then play as your scene partner whenever you rehearse.

Does my friend have to pay?

No. Helping is always free! Your friend downloads ScriptReady and creates a free Collaborator account.

What happens to my friend's recordings?

Their recordings are uploaded so that you, the person who sent the script, can listen to them. They stay stored until the share expires or is deleted.

Live Reader
What is Live Reader?

Live Reader is a private video call inside the app with a real reader. They see the same script as you, synced line by line, read the other parts live, and tap Next Line on their own phone to move your teleprompter while you act.

Who can join my Live Reader room?

Only people you invite. Each room has a code that you share, and there is no public directory or matchmaking. Calls can be one-to-one or a small group.

Can I record my self-tape during the call?

Yes. In a one-to-one session, you record your takes while your reader reads the other part and moves your teleprompter. Your reader's voice is recorded straight from the call into your take.

Self-tape and teleprompter
What are the self-tape recording options?

You can record with the camera only, with the teleprompter showing your lines over the camera view, or with the full rehearsal playing the other characters' lines. Your takes are saved to your library so you can review and send them.

How do I control the teleprompter?

Swipe along either edge to speed up or slow down while it plays, or drag the script in the middle. Pinch to make the text larger or smaller. The current line stays highlighted.

Can the teleprompter float over other apps?

Yes, on Android. The teleprompter can float over other apps, so your lines stay on screen while you use another camera or video-call app. This feature is only available on Android.

Can I add reverb to my singing?

Yes. After you record a song, or a self-tape with the camera only or the teleprompter, turn on Vocal Reverb on the review screen. Choose Room for a small space, Hall for a big open one, or Plate for a smooth studio sound, then set the intensity. The reverb is saved into the take when you keep it.

Creating and printing scripts
Can I write a script in the app?

Yes. In Create a Script, each character you add gets a button, so you can tap a name instead of typing it again. You can type each line or tap the microphone and dictate it, and you can add stage directions and lyrics.

What does Print to PDF produce?

It produces a clean PDF in screenplay format, set in Courier Prime, without watermarks or distracting markings. Auto-Highlight can mark your character's lines for you.

Account and sync
Will my scripts move between my iPhone and Android phone?

Yes. Your scripts and recordings sync to your account on Android and iPhone. You can sign in with Google, Apple or email.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, open Settings, choose Delete Account, and follow the confirmation steps. Deletion is immediate and permanent. The privacy policy has more detail.

Privacy
Are my self-tape videos uploaded anywhere?

No. Your self-tapes are recorded and saved on your own phone, and ScriptReady never uploads them to our servers. You decide where a take goes, whether that's your casting portal, an email or your camera roll.

Is my Live Reader call recorded?

No. The video call runs live between you and your reader and is not recorded or stored on our servers. The only recording is the self-tape you choose to record, and it stays on your phone.

Is my voice used to train AI?

No. Your voice is never used to create, train or clone AI voices. The AI partner voices in the app are licensed voices and are not based on any user's voice.

Does ScriptReady keep recordings of my voice when I rehearse?

No. While you rehearse, the microphone is used only to follow along with your lines, and that audio is not saved. ScriptReady does not create a voiceprint from your voice. Speech recognition is handled by your phone's built-in speech service from Apple or Google, under their terms.

What about the recordings I make on purpose?

Lines you record with My Voice are saved on your phone and are only used for rehearsing. If you include them in a script you send with Script Share, they're uploaded so your friend can hear your lines. If you turn on sync between your devices, a copy is uploaded so your other device can download it, and that copy is deleted from our servers 3 days after it's downloaded. Recordings a friend makes for you with Script Share are kept until the share expires or is deleted.

Who can see my scripts?

Other people only see your scripts if you choose to share them, either through Script Share or by inviting someone into a Live Reader room.

Do you sell my data?

No. We don't sell or rent your personal information, and we don't share it with anyone for marketing. The privacy policy lists every type of service we use to run the app.
